Cowboys Sweep Jefferson County

Connors State returned to its winning ways on Sunday with a sweep of Jefferson County 1-0 and 4-2 at Biff Johnson Field to improve to 18-8 on the year.

The Cowboys resume play on Tuesday with a road game at Parsons, Kan. to battle Labette County, before playing Murray State on Saturday at Tishomingo.

The Cowboys’ Brodie Ross’ home run, his fourth of the season, in the fifth inning was all Connors needed to win the first of two games.

It was all. Clint Spratlin needed in getting the win to go 3-1 on the year. Spratlin pitched six innings and gave up just two hits while striking out four and walking two. Dusten Knight threw the final two innings to earn the save, his third of the year.

In the nightcap Joey Ellison threw a complete game in upping his record to 3-1. Ellison give up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Ross led the Cowboys attack in the second game going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored while Heath Holliday was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
