Alabama Club Sweeps Cowgirls
Wallace (Ala.) State swept the Connors Cowgirls 9-4 and 3-0 in softball play Monday in Warner.
The Cowgirls with the twin bill loss evens their season record at 17-17 and will play on the road Tuesday against Rose State at 2 p.m. before taking on Texarkana in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Warner on Thursday.
The Lady Lions broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning with a five-run burst in the final two innings.
Lauren Robertson took the loss inside the circle and is now 5-4. She gave up 9 runs on 8 hits, with 6 walks, while striking out four.
Emily Ware led the Cowgirls hitting attack with a two-run RBI double in the third. Connors stranded 10 runners, including the bases loaded in the first inning.
The Cowgirls had only three hits in the nightcap as Hayley Jaynes took the loss, falling to 7-9 on the year inside the circle. Jaynes gave up seven hits in the loss, while going the distance.
