Cowboys Lose Twin Bill to Jefferson County

Connors State’s seven game winning streak came to an end on Saturday as the Cowboys fell twice to Jefferson County, Mo. 11-0 and 6-1 at Biff Johnson Stadium.

The Cowboys are 16-8 entering Sunday’s twin bill against Jefferson County. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.

The Cowboys offense left them in the opener with Eric Baker, Cam’Ron Summers and Wes Newman’s singles were the only offense for Connors.

Kyle Wormington sustained his first loss of the season on the mound, now 4-1, giving up four runs in six innings.

In the finale, Newman singled in Matt Oberste in the sixth to avoid a second shutout. The Cowboys stranded eight base runners. Jake Fisher took the loss; his first of the year (4-1) gave up six runs in six innings, on five hits.
