Cowboys Named All-Americans
Connors State College’s Corey Wilford and Robert Crawford have been named National Junior College Athletic Association All-Americans.
Wilford, 6-1 sophomore guard from Hopkinsville, Ky. was voted to the second team and Crawford, 6-6 sophomore guard from Broken Arrow, was an honorable mention selection.
The selections were made by each division's respective (Division I, II, III) basketball committee at the 2011 NJCAA annual meeting held March 26-29 in Tampa, Fla.
“Both these young men are deserving of the honor and had great seasons for the Cowboys,” said Connors State head coach Bill Muse. “I know they will do very well at the next level and we wish them the very best. They have been outstanding representatives of Connors State,” said Muse.
Wilford averaged 16.1 points per game last season, shooting 47 percent from the floor, connecting on 157 of 333 attempts. He shot 46 percent from behind the arc, draining 81-of-78 and was an 83 percent free throw shooter. At the line he sank 89-of-107 attempts and pulled down 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game.
Wilford had four games of 30-plus scoring performance and nine games of 20 or more. He established a school record for 3-point goals in a game when he drained 10 against Bacone College on Nov. 12, 2010.
Crawford averaged 16.1 points and shot 45 percent from the field connecting on 142-of-313 shots. He averaged 7.0 rebounds, two assists and two steals a game.
Crawford had 25 double figure scoring games, including a season high 30 points against Eastern State. He also had four double-doubles on the year.
