Cowgirls bid for College World Series Falls Short

OKLAHOMA CITY –Connors Cowgirls’ quest for their second trip to the NJCAA Softball College World Series fell short Sunday afternoon at Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Cowgirls defeated Western State 9-1 to reach the championship round and then defeated unbeaten Northeastern A&M in the tournament 6-4 setting the stage for a second game and a trip to St. George, Utah for the College World Series on May 19th.

However, the Lady Norse rallied to defeat the Cowgirls 10-5 and end their season. The Cowgirls won 6-of-7 games in the Region II to reach the championship game.

The Cowgirls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second game on a RBI single by Lauren Pittman. NEO tied the game at 1-all in their half of the first before the Cowgirls regain the lead 2-1 in the second on a bases loaded walk to Hannah Hamilton, that forced-in a run.

Northeastern A&M regained the lead 3-2 in third and made it 4-2 in the fourth inning.

Connors regained the lead 5-4 in the fourth inning on a bases clearing double. NEO then struck for five runs in the fifth inning and added another in the seventh of the 10-5 final.

Connors State completes the year 35-36.
