Cowgirls Earn Split With Eastern

Cowgirls’ Hannah Hamilton scored on a delayed steal in the first inning in the second game of a doubleheader against Eastern State for a 1-0 victory over the Lady Mountaineers to earn a split of a doubleheader Thursday at Wilburton.

Lauren Robertson (6-4) threw a four-hit shutout, striking out five.

Connors is now 16-14 on the year, resumes play Monday when it hosts Wallace State (Ala.) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader. Connors game with Eastern scheduled for Saturday in Warner has been moved to a week from Saturday due to Eastern’s participation in the Seminole tournament this weekend.

The Cowgirls lost the first game 2-1, despite some solid pitching in the circle.

Paige Boling doubled and scored on Alyx Sovo’s double for a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Eastern scored one in the third and another in fifth off Hayley Jaynes, who is now 8-7 inside the circle. Jaynes gave up six hits and two earned runs in going the distance.

Boling was 4-for-6 for the day, two hits in both games.
