Cowgirls Split With Murray State

Connors State’s Jordan Jones fueled the Cowgirls offensive assault with two home runs in a doubleheader against Murray State, but it wasn’t enough as Cowgirls split with Murray State in Tishomingo Wednesday, losing the opener 3-2 and taking the nightcap 9-2.

The Cowgirls, who are now 28-29 overall and 9-10 in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference action, will host Seminole State today at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader in the final home games of the season.

Trailing 3-0, Jones blasted a two-run homer in the fourth to slice the Aggies lead to 3-2. That was all the scoring for the Cowgirls as Hayley Jaynes took the loss and is now 12-14 on the year.

In the second game, Jaynes scattered four hits in getting the victory (13-14) while blasting her second home run of the season, a two-run shot.

Murray tied the game in the fourth before Ashley Ball hit her first homer and Lauren Pittman, her 10th, both solo shots. The Cowgirls plated five home runs in the seventh.
