Cowgirls Sweep Northern-Tonkawa

Connors State Cowgirls swept Northern-Tonkawa Mavericks 5-2 and 7-6 Thursday afternoon to improve to 11-11 for the season.

Paige Boling’s three-run home run in the seventh inning, her sixth of the season fueled the Cowgirls’ 5-2 win the the opener. Boling’s blast broke a 2-2 tie as she went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Hannah Hamilton went 2-for-3 on the day at the plate.

Hailey Jaynes is now 5-5 for the season inside the circle, as she scattered six hits in going the distance.

In the nightcap,  Sabrina Valenzuela singled home  the winning run for the  7-6  victory. Ashley Ball’s bases-loaded single tied the game before Valenzuela ended it.

Boling was 2-for-3 at the plate and hit her seventh home run. Rachel Criner was 4-for-4 at the plate.

Lauren Robertson got the win for the Cowgirls in relief and is now 4-4  on the year. She gave up one hit in two innings.

The Cowgirls will next play in the Midwest Classic at at Arrowhead Field in Tulsa against Coffeyville (Kan.) at 10 a.m.Saturday.
