Keith Re-instated as Cowboys Baseball Coach
WARNER—Connors State College President Dr. Donnie Nero and Athletics Director Bill Muse announced that Perry Keith, head baseball coach of the Cowboys, has been re-instated, effective immediately, following a one semester (spring) suspension.
“I have the utmost confidence in Coach Keith that he will seek the highest standards for himself and the program,” said Dr. Nero.
Keith, who guided the Cowboys for 26 years, was suspended for violations of National Junior College Athletic Association rules.
“Perry has fulfilled his suspension under the guidelines that were presented to him at the time of the action and is ready to complete his obligation to Connors, the NJCAA bylaws and rules,” said Muse.
Keith posted a 1,236-352 win loss record at Connors, including induction into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2008, and a NJCAA College World Series appearance. He is a six time Region II Coach of the Year, and four-time South Central Coach of the Year.
The Cowboys under the guidance of assistant coach Bobby Foreman, guided Connors to a 39-20 record this season and to a third place finish in the Region II tournament.
Foreman, who has been at Connors State for 14 seasons, 13 as assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and overseeing the strength and conditioning program.
