Softball Season In Full Swing
Connors State Cowgirls softball team earned a split with Crowder Community College on Tuesday with a 10-1 opening game win and falling in the second game of the twin bill 4-1.
The Cowgirls, who are now 7-9 on the year, will play Grayson County Community College today at 1 p.m.
Hayley Jaynes got the pitching decision in both games and is now 4-4 inside the circle this season. Jaynes struck out four and gave up a home run in the opener. Cowgirls’ Paige Boling connected for a 3-run homer, her fourth of the season, with Sabrina Valenzuela collecting two hits.
In the second game, Jaynes, who was pitching in relief of starter Lauren Robertson, gave up a two-run homer in the 8th inning which was the difference in the game. Cowgirls’ Hannah Hamilton of Muskogee, Shasta Blake and Jackie Thurmond each had two hits, while Blake also stole three bases.
