ENID—Connors State Cowboys cruised to a 52-31 lead at the break then held off host Northern Oklahoma-Enid in the second half for an 88-77 Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference victory on the Jets home floor Tuesday night.
The 23rd-ranked Cowboys improved to 10-1 for the season and 1-0 in OCAC play, while the Jets fall to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in league action.
"I thought we played very well in the first half," said Cowboys head Coach Bill Muse. "We played good defense the first 20 minutes and shot the ball extremely well.
"Then in the second half we relaxed a bit. But it's always good to get a good win on the road.
"Tonkawa (next opponent) defeated Seminole State in their league opener also, so we will have to be ready," said Muse.
Connors who had three players score in double figures returns home to play NOC-Tonkawa on Thursday night at Melvin Self Field House. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
Rance Kendrick topped Enid's scoring with 18 points followed by Romino Harvey's 15, with Ray'Shawn Dotson and C.J. Jones scoring 14 and 13 points respectively.
