WARNER—Connors State's Burke Putnam has been named to the first team NJCAA Region II squad and Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference team it was announced Saturday.
Burke a 6-3 sophomore guard from Tulsa, averaged 16.3 points a game, connecting on 44.4 percent from the field (162-of 365) including 43-of 103 from behind the arc for 41.7 percent. At the free throw line Burke connected on 101-of-129 attempts for 78.3 percent at the stripe. He pulled down 154 rebounds to average 5.4 per game. Burke also had 123 assists on the year for a 4.2 average per game.
The sophomore had a season and career high 30 points against Northern Oklahoma-Enid on January 31 at Melvin Self Field House when he drained 13-of-19 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from behind the arc. He also pulled down eight rebounds, with six assists and a steal, including one block.
Burke is a graduate of East Central High School where he was a 2017 All-State selection, averaging 21.0 points an outing.
Joining Burke on the first team were A.J. McNeil (Redlands), Ravel Moody (Northeastern A&M), Dean Berrien (Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa), and Elisha Hobbs (Eastern State).
Second team members are Lloyd Daniels (Murray State), Damien Sears (Western State), Dylan Van Eyck (Northeastern A&M), Romio Harvey (Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa) and Keiodre Perry (Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa).
