Ronnie Williford JR.

The 2018-19 season marks the first season for Ronnie Williford Jr as assistant coach under head coach Bill Muse for Cowboy Basketball. Williford received his bachelor degree in History from The University of Little Rock and his master’s degree in Sports Administration from Angelo State University. He joins the Cowboys after serving as assistant coach at New Mexico Military Institute.

While at New Mexico Military Institute, Williford had the pleasure of coaching some remarkable young men, three of whom went on to play Division 1 basketball. One of these young men Trevelin Queen would also finish the season ranked #8 player in JUCO. In each season the win total increased and he was an integral part in developing outstanding individuals moving onto four year universities.

Prior to New Mexico Military Institute, Williford was the assistant coach under Mike St. John at Carl Albert State College. Before his stint at Carl Albert, he spent time as an assistant at Arkansas Baptist College under the tutelage of Charles Ripley. Williford began his collegiate coaching career at Angelo State University under Fred Rike and current Texas Southern University assistant coach Kenneth Mangrum.

Williford has increased his knowledge while working multiple camps that includes high caliber coaches: Shaka Smart, Larry Brown, Chris Beard, Steve Shields, and Paul Weir. He is a multi-faceted coach who brings a lot of experience along with discipline, strength, motivation, and structure with him. He is eager to see the growth and development of the players as individuals and as a team.
