Cowgirls Remain Unbeaten With Victory Over Coffeyville Community College, 57-49


WARNER---Connors State Cowgirls overcame Coffeyville Community College's tenacious zone defense with some deadly outside shooting by Cheyenne Marshall to remain unbeaten with a 57-49 victory Saturday at Melvin Self Field House.


Marshall canned seven shots from behind the arc to finish with 22 points leading the unbeaten Cowgirls (2-0) assault. Vicky Dru followed with 13 points. The Cowgirls finished with nine from behind the arc.


The Red Ravens, who trailed throughout much of the game, tied the Cowgirls at 40-all with 6:42 left in the final quarter.


 However, Marshall drained a 3-pointer to put Connors on top for good with 5:45 remaining in the game.


.Connors used the 3-point shot to hold a 25-18 lead at the half, connecting on five from behind the arc. Cowgirls jumped out to a 5-0 lead and led at the end of the first quarter 12-9.


Lasthiscxa Joseph led Coffeyville with 10 points.


The Cowgirls will be on the road Tuesday in Bartlesville to play Oklahoma Wesleyan University Junior Varsity. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
