WARNER—Connors State Cowgirls rallied from a 12-point deficit early in the third quarter to overtake visiting Redlands Community College Thursday night at Melvin Self Field House to capture an impressive 64-55 Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference victory.
Cowgirls will take an 11-5 season mark and 3-1 OCAC record Monday night to Miami, Okla., to face No 23-rank and five time defending league champion Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
The loss drops Redlands to 13-4 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.
"We didn't play the first half very strong, but I told them in the locker room that the first five minutes of the second half would determine the game," said Cowgirls head coach Jamie Fisher.
"We played excellent defense the second half and everyone did their part. The second half we played really well. We controlled the boards and scored inside the paint and by penetrating the lane.
"We had four girls score in double figures and when we do that we are tough to handle," said Fisher.
Brooklyn Judkins led the Cougars with 14 points with Sydney Nenberry and Kiara Lovings scoring 10 points each.
