Cowgirls Shock No. 24 NEO, Snap 51-Game Home Winning Streak, 51-47

MIAMI, OKLA.—It was monumental.

Connors State Cowgirls walked into the Northeastern A&M Field House Monday night and snapped the Lady Norse 51 game home court winning streak with an impressive 51-47 Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference victory before a packed house of 2,000.

The Cowgirls moved into second place in the OCAC with a  4-1 record and 12-5 overall record. NEO is now 11-5 and 3-1. Connors returns home to play Murray State on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.

"Any time you get a road win in the OCAC it's huge" said Cowgirls head coach Jamie Fisher. "We played good team basketball against the five-time defending conference champions. I thought we played very good defensive basketball.

"Anytime you hold them to 47 points in a game (lowest output for NEO this season) you have to be proud of your defense.

"I am really proud of my girls," said Fisher.

Led by the scoring duo of Shaniqua Patterson and Vicky Duru who scored 19 and 18 points respectively, as the Cowgirls stunned the 24th ranked Lady Norse

The game was tied 10 times with Connors holding its largest lead of the game (five points) at the 4:03 mark of the second quarter 22-17.

 Eight more times it was tied, the last 44-all with 35 seconds remaining before the Cowgirls snapped the deadlock on a bucket and free throw by Patterson.

NEO missed a long range shot, then Kailen Wright converted two free throws at the 17-second mark to make it 49-44.

NEO's Jonah Johnson hit a short jumper to cut the margin to 49-47 with five seconds remaining.

On   an inbounds pass Cheyenne Marshall drained two free throws for the finals count 51-47 with three seconds left.
