Chanute, Kan.—Playing outstanding defense and controlling the paint the Connors State Cowgirls rolled past host Neosho County Community College Tuesday night 85-63.

Cowgirls (5-1) will travel to Tishomingo Friday to battle Paris Junior College and then play the Oklahoma Angels on Saturday.

"They played zone against us the whole game, but our inside play was the difference," said Coach Jamie Fisher.

"We did a better job of attacking the zone and we also rebounded very well (50-36). They like to run, but we controlled the pace of the game.

"We got them to play our game and that was important "said Fisher.

Connors had three players score in double figures led by De'Asia Reid's 24 points. Lauren Wright drained the nets for 18 points and Isabel Gonzalez poured in 15 more.

The Cowgirls jumped out to a 23-15 advantage after the first quarter and held a 39-26 lead at the half.

Connors broke open the game in the second half outscoring Neosho 46-37, leading by as much as 26 in the fourth period.

Jessica Wright led Neosho's scoring with 15 points with Morgan Bolen adding 11 more.

Connors drained 19-of-24 at the free throw line to shoot 79 percent. Neosho went to the line just 12 times.
