BETHANY –Connors State Cowgirls used a second half scoring burst to put away Southwestern Christian University Junior Varsity 56-32 Wednesday night.
"We played very lethargic in the first half and we just kind of went through the motions," said Coach Jamie Fisher. "We just couldn't hit our shots."
De'Asia Reid led the Cowgirls scoring with 12 points, the only Connors player to score in double figures.
Cowgirls will take a 10-2 record against Southern Arkansas Tech Junior Varsity on Friday at Melvin Self Field House. Tip-off is 7:30 pm.
In their previous meeting against Southwestern Christian, the Cowgirls captured a 79-45 victory over the Eagles on Connors home floor.
The two clubs played to an18-18 deadlock at the half, before the Cowgirls outscored the Eagles 38-14 in the final 20 minutes.
"We started pulling away in the second half," said Fisher. "We started playing our kind of basketball. We really moved the basketball around against their zone. I guess we needed that first half to get over the Thanksgiving break.
"We did a much better job of protecting the basketball and started hitting our shots," said Fisher.
