Cowboys Picked Second in OCAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Warner – The Connors State College Cowboys men's basketball team has been picked to finish second in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference in the 2021-22 OCAC Men's Basketball Coaches Preseason Poll, announced by the league on Tuesday.

The Cowboys finished tied for fourth last season, but have four returning players off last year's team that was knocked off in the Region Two Tournament Quarterfinals.

The preseason favorite to win the OCAC in 2021-2022 is Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, who barely beat out the cowboys as the preseason favorite for 2021-2022. Last year's regular season and Region 2 Tournament Champion Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa was picked to finish third.

Eastern Oklahoma State College was picked to finish fourth, while Murray State College was picked to finish fifth. Murray State made it to the Semifinals of the Region 2 Tournament in 2021, while Eastern Oklahoma State College made it to the Quarterfinals.

Seminole State College was picked sixth, while 2021 Region Two Tournament Runner-Up Northern Oklahoma College-Enid was picked seventh.

Western Oklahoma State College and Redlands Community College were both picked eighth and ninth respectively on Tuesday by the league's coaches.

The Cowboys open the season on November 1st at 7:00 pm inside Melvin Self Field-House against Southwestern Christian to begin a three-game homestand to start the year.
