Cowboy Bats On Fire Against Arkansas Tech
Cowboys bats recorded 21 hits for the day
The bats were hot for the Cowboys all day as they hosted Arkansas Tech for a doubleheader. The Cowboys took game one with a score of 10-1. Blake Simpson was on fire going 3 for 4 with two doubles and a home run. Connors recorded eleven hits from Wally Diaz, Solomon Harwood, Teonis Pimentel, Trevor Rowe, David Stanley, and Simpson. In addition to generating hits, the Cowboys showed patience at the plate. JT Melson recorded three walks to help keep runners on the basepath for the Cowboys.
Freshman Rolfy DePaula was effective on the mound in game one holding Arkansas Tech to one hit while striking out five. Luis Polanco came in to close out the scoreless game by striking out one and walking none.
The Cowboys started game two off a bit flat but turned the game into a slug fest in the fourth. The Cowboys recorded ten hits while Arkansas Tech finished the game with twelve hits. Despite the power of the Arkansas Tech bats, the Cowboys were also patient in the box putting fourteen Cowboys on the basepath at the expense of the Arkansas Tech pitchers. Cowboys recorded the win with a score of 19-7.
The offense was led by Wally Diaz and Blake Simpson each collecting two hits each while Cristopher Acevado, Pierre Cabral, Trevor Rowe, and David Stanley each collected one hit. Acevado kept the Arkansas Tech pitchers nervous by recording two stolen bases.
The Cowboy defense once again showed strength in both games and committed only one error on the day. The game two win was accomplished through the work of five Cowboy pitchers with Chase Pair getting the win. Brannon Westmoreland, Pair, Frangley Morel, Luis Kelly, and Tyler Bates combined for only three walks and eight strikeouts to get the win.
