WARNER–It wasn't pretty, but it was a win according to Connors State head coach Bill Muse, as the 26th-ranked Cowboys remained unbeaten (9-0) after a 95-80 victory over Central Baptist College Mustangs Junior Varsity Blue squad Monday night at Melvin Self Field House.
"This was probably our worst defensive performance of the year," said a disappointed Muse. "We can play much better on the defensive end.
"There was a complete lack of effort on our part tonight. We can't play that way going into the next game. They all start counting for real the next time we play," he said.
The Cowboys open up Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Nov. 28th against Northeastern A&M on the road at Miami. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
Against the Mustangs the Cowboys had five players score in double figures led by Ra' Shawn Langston who led with 21 points.
Langston was followed by A.J. Cockrell with 18, with Bishop Coulter scoring 12, with Darius Roy and  Marvin Lowe adding 10 points each.
Leading 51-37 at the half, Connors opened the final 20 minutes by scoring eight unanswered points for a 60-37 advantage to put the Mustangs away. It was the Cowboys largest lead of the game.

It's a lead the Cowboys never relinquished the rest of the half, taking a 51-37 advantage after 20 minutes of play.
