WARNER —Connors State dominating the inside cruised to a 105-60 victory over Mid-American Christian Junior Varsity Saturday at Melvin Self Field House.
The Cowboys (2-0) go on the road Tuesday, Nov. 7th to open Region II play against Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Ark. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
The 26th ranked Cowboys held a 58-38 lead at the intermission as Zaph Bobb, AJ Cockrell and Burke Putnman, all scoring in double figures in the first 20 minutes led the Connors offensive assault.
The Evangels connected on 10 threes in the half which accounted for 30 of their 38 first half points.
"Once we started clamping down on their 3-point shooting in the second half, we started playing much better defense," said Connors State head coach Bill Muse.
"Offensively we shared the basketball and had six players score in double figures. That's what we want.
However, we still have a lot of work to do, as the competition gets a lot better on Tuesday at Little Rock against Arkansas Baptist.
"It will be our first road test and this will tell a lot about this team," said Muse.
Cowboys had five players score in double figures once again with AJ Cockrell leading the attack with 15, with Terrance Jones, Bobb and Putnam scoring 14 points each. Ra' Shawn Langston added 12 in the victory.
Connors surpassed the century mark for the second time this season. Kobe Rose put the Cowboys over the 100-point mark with one-minute remaining on a 10-foot jumper, giving them a 102-60 lead.
