Cowboys Take Top Spot in OCAC Standings With 99-86 Victory Over Seminole State

SEMINOLE ---It was suppose to be a close ball game. It wasn't.
No. 17-ranked Connors State rolled over host Seminole State 99-86 in a crucial Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference clash Monday night at Raymond Harbor Field House.
The Cowboys are now all alone atop the OCAC with a 21-2 season mark and 9-1 record in the conference.
Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa who entered the night deadlocked with the Cowboys fell to Northeastern A&M 64-53 in Miami, Okla. The Mavericks are now 8-2 in conference play and 19-5 on the year.
Connors returns home Thursday night to play Murray State at Melvin Self Field House. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
"I thought we played well the entire game," said head coach Bill Muse. "Offensively we were real good, but at the end of the game we got sloppy.
"We were up 32 and then let them get back at the end. It’s hard to find something poorly that we did tonight.
â€The starters played very well, a couple of guys came off the bench and played extremely well, “said Muse.
Shooting 50 percent in the first half and forcing the Trojans into 11 turnovers (12 on the night), Connors dominated the first 20 minutes of play. The Cowboys held a 47-32 advantage of the half and stretched its margin to 32 points three times in the second half.
The last 32 point bulge came with 11:34 left in the one-sided game 78-46. Seminole came no closer than the 13-point final as play between the two clubs became sloppy at times in the final 10 minutes of play.
Connors had four players score in double figures with Ra’Shaw Langston leading the way with 24 points. Langston was closely followed by Mason Jones with 23, who also scored a double-double with 11 rebounds.
Bishop Coutler added another 16 points in the victory with Darius Roy scoring 12 points.
"We put four guys in double figures against a good ball club" said Muse. "I don't any complaints with the guys.
"W could have guarded a little better the second half, but we had such a big lead we started playing different people at the end.
"I' proud of the guys. We had great effort tonight that you have to have on the road."
The Trojans scoring was led by Darnell Butler with 27, followedby Marcus Blackwell' 17and Richard Anderson added 11 more.
