The Cowgirls traveled to Miami Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon is a rescheduled game with rival Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Lady Norse. Once again the rivalry game did not dissappoint only finding the Cowgirls to fall short in overtime 48-45. The game was a low scoring affair with at the end of reguation to score being knoted at 41-41. The Lady Norse biggest lead came at the end of the first half leading the Cowgirls 23-16.
"Our game plan is to make them play at our tempo, and keep the game low scoring and do a great job of making them play in the half court," said Head Cowgirl Coach Jamie Fisher.
"I felt we executed our overall game plan to success, and made them earn every basket they took and really did a fantastic job of controlling the tempo." said Fisher.
The Cowgirls were forced into overtime when Freshman guard Sydndey Ellis from NEO hit a deep 3 with seconds left on the clock to tie the game at 41 all and force an overtime peirod. In overtime the Cowgirls had chances to tie or take the lead and try to steal a conference road victory, but just fell short.
"I felt like we had a couple possesions in overtime to tie or take the lead but didn't take advantage, the ball just didn't bounce our way in the overtime, unfortunatly that's basketball for you." said Fisher
"We are just going to have to learn from this heartbreaking loss and move forward to be the best version of ourselves, because we have a short turnaround for our road game Monday at Tonk."
The Cowgirls will be in action again on Monday evening at 5:30 against Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa Lady Mavs in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
