Cowgirls Comeback to Defeat Rival NEO 68-59
The Connors State Cowgirls added another W in the Win Column Monday night as they defeated their rival Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 68-59 to imrpove to 14-4 on the season. The Cowgirls started the game down 24-13 at the end of the 1st quarter by hitting 4 three pointers. The Cowgirls then entered the halftime down 36-24 with NEO Lady Norse dominating them on the boards
"I felt like first half we started in zone and they knockdown some big three pointers along with getting second chance points," said Head Cowgirl Coach Jamie Fisher.
In the second half the Cowgirls caming roaring back outscoring the Lady Norse 44-23 and with 24 points in the 3rd quarter alone cutting the NEO lead to one point. The Cowgirls had 3 players with double digit scoring was freshman Haitiana Releford with 28 points followed by freshamn Samantha Shanks with 14 points, and freshman Kylie Eubanks with 10 points. Finally Adrian Crockwell finished the game with 8 points, Carrigan Hill had 6 points and Kayley Turner with 2 points.
"In the second half we did a great job of limiting NEO to one possesion by forcing them to take contested shots and getting defensive rebounds which lead us to open up our transition game and attack NEO and get easy buckets." said Fisher "This was a great quality win for us having to comeback and fight for every possesions to get the victory."
The Cowgirls will be in action again this coming Thursday as they travel to take on NOC Enid Lady Jets with tipoff set at 5:30 pm.
